Sustainability

As Toronto’s electricity distribution company, sustainability is one of our core values. In fact, sustainability is inherent in our vision to provide safe and reliable service to customers in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner.

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, we regularly monitor and assess all aspects of our environmental performance in an effort to reduce our environmental footprint and improve efficiency. We also help customers be part of the shift to a sustainable economy by:

• Connecting renewable power and energy storage to the grid
• Encouraging the use of electrified transportation
• Offering online billing to reduce paper consumption

   

Our sustainability focus

When it comes to sustainability, our stakeholders include: customers (residential and commercial); key accounts (such as hospitals, colleges and universities); employees and contractors; financial markets; government bodies; industry associations; regulators; and the City of Toronto (our sole shareholder).

Through various engagements with these stakeholders, we determined that our material sustainability topics include the following:

• Service reliability
• Grid investment
• Emergency preparedness and response
• Public health and safety
• Occupational health, safety and wellness
